What you need to know before you visit Sky Lagoon

Find out key information to help you get ready for your Sky Lagoon experience.

Upon arrival, you will be given a wristband that works as your locker key as well as a credit card for all purchases during your SKY experience. We’ll attach your credit card to this wristband. It also allows you to exit at the end of your experience.

Youths under the age of 12 are not permitted at Sky Lagoon. Youths 12 – 14 must be accompanied by a guardian (18 years or older). Sky Lagoon team members may ask to confirm your child's date of birth using a valid ID card or passport and reserve the right to refuse access if one cannot be provided.

We recommend that families use the Sky Pass’ premium changing rooms for space and privacy.

The recommended time is 1,5–2 hours. It’s very important that you stay hydrated whilst enjoying the warm water. This will help ensure you get the most out of your experience and stay healthy.

The Lagoon is approximately 38–40°C (100–104° F). Icelandic weather can often have a dramatic effect on the guest experience and the temperature can vary.

At its deepest point, the lagoon is 120 cm (3’9” ft).

Yes. Our facilities are wheelchair accessible. This includes accessible change rooms, showers and a chairlift for entering the lagoon. We also offer private changing spaces for guests that prefer a more private changing environment.

If you have any underlying disease (cardiovascular disease or high/low blood pressure etc.), contact your physician for advice before entering the lagoon. And If you have any underlying diseases that may cause you to want to our staff to keep an extra eye on you during your stay in the lagoon, like epilepsy for example, we offer high visibility wristbands at reception for you to wear and will notify our safety guards.

We have two tiers of changing facilities:

  • “Pure” has shared showers and changing area.
  • “Sky” has private showers and changing area.

Towels are free of charge for all guests. Hairdryers are available in both.

We offer towels free of charge, but do not supply slippers or robes as guests access the Lagoon directly from the changing rooms. You are of course more than welcome to bring your own to use in our facilities. 

It’s very important that you stay hydrated during your visit to Sky Lagoon. This will help ensure you get the most out of your experience and stay healthy.

You’ll find drinking water fountains in changing rooms and at the Lagoon. Drinks are also available for purchase at the Lagoon Bar.

Please limit alcohol consumption to three (3) alcoholic drinks per adult while you’re enjoying the lagoon. Anyone who is intoxicated is not allowed to access the lagoon.

We recommend that you do not arrive at Sky Lagoon with an empty stomach. Eat something light and nutritious to get the most out of your experience. Snacks are available at Sky Café.

Yes, we offer storage for any kind of baggage that does not fit into your locker for a small fee (800 ISK). Please contact our reception during check-in for further information. 

Gift cards are available for purchase at Sky Lagoon reception and here on our website.

Yes, we want everyone to feel equally as welcome at Sky Lagoon. Whether you are non-binary or transgender you are more than welcome to use our private changing facilities. Ask our staff at check-in and they will provide you with access to a private changing room. See our Pledge to Pride.

We allow guests to take photos to capture their Sky Lagoon journey. However, we kindly ask you to be very mindful with your photography and respectful of other guests. Please do not take any photos until you have reached the Lagoon area. All photography is strictly prohibited in the changing rooms and shower area.  
Bathing suits are obligatory in the lagoon and the Seven-Step Ritual. We sell swimsuits from 66° north and offer swimsuits and swim trunks for rent in reception. Showering without a swimsuit is required before entering the lagoon.

The main difference is the seven-step Ritual. 

  • Pure pass offers access to the Ritual. It includes the lagoon and the cold plunge, along with the turf house where you will find the rest of the steps: the sauna, the cold mist, our signature Sky scrub, the steam, and showers. Read more about the Ritual
  • Pure light package offers access to the Lagoon itself but not the Ritual.

The weather in Iceland can be quite unpredictable, so you can change your booking time up to 24 hours before your visit by emailing [email protected]. If you are up for the adventure, we recommend coming prepared and bring something to cover your head. Just in case, we have hats available for purchase at the reception and at the Lagoon Bar.

The Ritual is included in the Pure and Sky passes. A full journey through the seven steps of the Ritual is available once but you are free to stay in the Lagoon as long as you want. We encourage you to enjoy each step to the fullest and be careful to stay hydrated throughout your journey.  

 

Due to safety concerns, swimming in the sea around Sky Lagoon is prohibited. However, you are more than welcome to enjoy the beautiful ocean view where the sea meets the sky.

It depends on the type of allergy you have. We strongly advise you to look into what ingredients are in the scrub before using.

The Sky Body Scrub includes: Maris Sal, Isopropyl Myristate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Parfum,Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate

Driving
It's approximately a 40-minute drive by taxi or rental car from Keflavík airport to Sky Lagoon.

Bus
From Keflavík airport, take bus no. 55 and stop at Hlemmur (57 min). From there, take bus no.1 to Hamraborg (21 min), and then take bus no. 35 to Hafnarbraut (4 min), which is the nearest stop to Sky Lagoon.

Currently, Flybus transfers do not travel directly to Sky Lagoon from the airport but they can take you to central Reykjavík where you can follow the instructions above.

Our transfer option is operated by bus by our friends at Reykjavík Excursion. You can add a transfer to your booking here.

Our cancellation policy allows you to cancel with at least 24 hours’ notice ahead of your scheduled visit for a full refund if the group is 10 or fewer people. Cancellations must be presented in writing to Sky Lagoon through email at [email protected]. More details can be found here in our terms and conditions.

To redeem your gift ticket, simply visit our website skylagoon.com - select the book button — Then select a date and time — From there you enter the gift card code under the order details and press update.

Please note that if you have a Sky Lagoon for Two gift ticket you will have to enter two codes under the Order Details and press Apply Code after each one.

The check-in time is always 30 minutes, for example, if you book a 14:00 slot you have from 14:00 – 14:30 to check in.  Our cancellation and modification policy are 24 hours.

We understand that there could be many reasons why our guests are delayed or miss their pre-booked time slot. We aim to be flexible and accommodating. As such, if you are going to be delayed or need to cancel your booking, kindly inform us as early as possible so that we can suggest an alternate time or date.

We strongly recommend pre-booking to secure your spot.

If we have availability upon your arrival you are welcome to purchase the ticket at the reception desk. Click here to secure your spot in our warm waters.

If you’ve lost something, we will do our best to find your item and return it to you. But also remember a few important points:

  • We only store valuables for three months and other items for one month.
  • Fee for shipping your item/s is 4000 ISK

Please note that Sky Lagoon is not responsible for your personal items, including but not limited to glasses, jewellery, phones and prosthetics. It is your responsibility to securely store and safeguard your personal items in the designated lockers to ensure the safety of your belongings. We strongly recommend that you do not bring valuable or delicate items into the lagoon or sauna area. Sky Lagoon cannot be held liable for any loss, damage, theft, or misplacement of your personal belongings.
